BMGE’s Safety and Health Procedures

International days are chosen to educate people about various issues of high importance to mobilize resources and political willingness in order to address them for the world. To enhance the importance of this occasion, we celebrate the 28th of April as the International Day for Safety and Health in the Workplace with you.

Realizing the importance of health and safety in the workplace, we have laid down several controls to ensure this in our organization along with precautionary measures to prevent Covid-19 pandemic from spreading. Working hours in the factory have been reduced and we allowed remote work for administrative jobs and encouraged the use of digital communication with customers from different parts of the globe in order to promote health and safety culture that can help to minimize the number of workplace-related deaths and injuries.

BMGE employees have high level of awareness about health and safety measures. Since the establishment of the factory in 2009, machines have been installed and offices have been equipped and designed according to standards that guarantee the safety of both the employee and the customer. Moreover, preventive measures are applied like measuring temperature, hand sterilization, and making sure to wear surgical face mask all the time before entering the factory. Since, employees directly deal with glass and aluminum, everyone is keen to wear the safety equipment that consists of gloves, shoes and safety helmet that ensures high protection levels. As well as all workers were instructed about the rightful use of the equipment and machineries and how to deal with them in case of danger. Following a preventive approach in risk management, all the basic needs have been provided in the event of damage and fire in order to improve the terms and conditions and the working environment of our employees.

In 2001 the International Labor Organization (ILO) issued guidelines on occupational health and safety management systems. These guidelines became a model used to develop national criteria in this scope. Thanks to its triple structure and its role in setting standards, the ILO is considered the most appropriate body for developing international guidelines on occupational safety and health management systems, and with the active participation of workers in the application and periodic review by specialists to ensure that the principal of continues improvement for work workers is followed.

It is our responsibility to act safely, protect ourselves, not put others at risk, know our rights and participate in implementing preventive measures.
Do you know what are the safety measures in your work environment?
